Learning about Scale

We did a spring art project and also learned about scale. Scale is how big an object is compared to another object. So I told the kids to draw large grass and flowers and a small spring object such as an Easter egg, a basket, a bunny or a chick (funny that they all chose Easter eggs or baskets- they are probably the most fun thing to draw). Then I wanted them to draw themselves much smaller than the object so it looks as if the object is huge. I told the kids they can do this with anything that they can dream up to make a fun "Surrealist" picture. For instance, they could draw themselves big walking over a small cityscape. Playing with scale if fun! Use your imagination and see what fun things you can come up with when you change scale in your art!
